The famed musician wrote his hit “Wonderful Tonight” while waiting for Pattie Boyd to get ready for Paul and Linda McCartney’s annual Buddy Holly party.

Although the wait might have not been worth it in the long haul, Clapton was pretty satisfied with their relationship at the time.

Alas, the song tortured him for years. ““Wonderful Tonight” was the most poignant reminder of all that was good in our relationship, and when things went wrong it was torture to hear it,” Clapton explained.
