Fans of this television and film powerhouse seemed to know for years that Rosie was gay and even her mega crush on Tom Cruise couldn’t fool the majority of fans. So when the talk show host revealed that she was in fact gay and had been in a long term relationship with her partner and co-parent for years many people were unfazed by the news.

By this time Rosie’s close family and many of her friends in the entertainment industry had known she was gay for years which makes new information on a previous outing interview that Rosie recently brought to light make even more sense. Rosie says that back in 1992 she gave a tell-all interview to Cosmopolitan magazine that never ran. She explains that at that time, in 1992, being gay or a lesbian was so taboo and a potential career killer, that she feels like the interviewer was just trying to protect her. Now that Rosie has officially been out to the world for over a decade she and her family seem to be happier as ever, as she and her new partner welcomed another daughter, Dakota to the family in 2013.
