Reality television fitness expert Bob Harper recently came out on his hit show The Biggest Loser in order to help a contestant who was struggling with his own sexuality. It was a brave and really selfless thing to do, but at the same time some fans had to be rolling their eyes at the “news.” Much like his fellow trainer, Jillian Michaels, Bob has been known as gay in the business for several years even though he had never publicly discussed his personal life.

On the show, Bob went on to reveal his sexuality to the rest of the contestants, his fellow trainers and host Allison Sweeney. During that time friend and trainer Jillian Michaels could be seen raising an eyebrow in shock that Bob had come out. But it seemed like she was just surprised that he had shared the news publicly and not that she was learning something new. It does seem like his outing helped out the contestant in his troubling time and now Bob can hopefully work as a role model for other nit just in the fitness world but in the LGBT community as well.
