12 Celebrities Who Didn’t Even Need To Tell Us They Were Gay
4) Rachel Maddow
Could it be the hair, the impeccable, yet gender neutral style or the fact that this anchor is outspoken on LGBT issues? As the successful, smart and charismatic host of the Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC she has officially been “out” to those close to her since the 1990’s. When she was just a 17 year old college freshman at Stanford University, the college newspaper ran a story on her being gay and out before she had the chance to tell her parents or family.
As a television personality Rachel didn’t really need to speak about her sexual orientation to the media or fans, but it is safe to say that we all knew she was a lesbian and honestly, to the majority of people it didn’t really matter. She has received several accolades in her time as a news anchor including the title of the first openly gay anchor to host a prime-time news program in the US. As an openly gay anchor Maddow has unexpectedly been shown respect by many of the country’s most outspoken, right wing conservatives including Bill O’Reilly who has said he believes Maddow is a good new anchor, which is high praise from him.
