10) When Real Life Imitates TV: Johnny Lewis

Maybe it was fitting that an actor on the ultra-violent television show “Sons of Anarchy” would end up dying in a bloody scene that could have been ripped from an episode of the grisly series. According to police, Lewis — who played Half Sack on the series — was found dead in the middle of his driveway, with his head cracked open in what appeared to either be a suicide or an accidental fall from the roof of the home he rented. His landlady, 81-year-old Catherine Davis, was found inside of the home strangled and beaten to death. A dead cat was also found in the home.

Sadly, there had been a lot of concern about Lewis’ behavior in the months leading up to the murder and apparent suicide. He had been arrested for assaulting a woman, an attempted residential burglary and for hitting two men in the heads with a bottle. Although, some thought Lewis had to have been high on some unknown substance at the time of the murder, autopsy reports showed that the actor had no drugs in his system. Family members and friends believe that he may have, instead, been suffering from some form of mental illness.
