15) And Finally: O. J. Simpson

Maybe, you’re surprised to see that O. J. Simpson is on this list. Yes, he was found not guilty in the stabbing deaths of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. However, a 2004 Gallup poll showed that 78 percent of those surveyed believe that the football player actually did murder Nicole Simpson and Goldman. So even though the actual jury allowed Simpson to walk, the majority of his peers still believe he committed the gruesome stabbings that occurred on June 12, 1994. And in 1997, Simpson was found liable for the wrongful death of Goldman in a civil trial and ordered to pay $33,500,000 in damages to his family.

Simpson, however, remained free until he was involved in a Las Vegas robbery. For that crime, he was charged with a number of counts, including kidnapping and assault. In December 2008, Simpson was sentenced to 33 years in prison. He is currently still being held in Lovelock Correctional Center.
