15 Celebrities That Have Killed People
9) Overcoming the Past: Charles S. Dutton
Dutton, best known for starring in the Fox comedy series, “Roc,” has proven that even murderers can overcome their past. The actor, who was a middle school dropout, was imprisoned at the age of 17 for killing a man that he claimed had attacked him. While in jail for manslaughter, he finished a two-year college degree and when he was released from prison, he applied to and was admitted to the Yale School of Drama.
Since then, Dutton has completely turned his life around. In 2000, Dutton directed a miniseries called “The Corner: A Year in the Life of an Inner-City Neighborhood.” For his efforts, Dutton was awarded an Emmy for best direction. He also later won Emmys in 2002 and 2003 for supporting roles in the television shows, “The Practice” and “Without a Trace.” A talented and versatile actor, Dutton was also nominated in 1984 for a Tony for his stage performance in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” And, of course, from 1991 to 1994, he was the star of “Roc.” In addition, Dutton is an in-demand guest star on television shows and has also appeared in many movies over the years.
