Sex and the City star Nixon met Marinoni (an education activist) at an education rally in 2002.

It took two years for them to become an official couple, and even longer for the laws to be in place that would allow these ladies to tie the knot.

At a 2009 rally to support New York gay marriage, the couple became engaged.

It wasn’t until 2011 that they were legally allowed to wed; and they did so as soon as they could (May 27, 2012). Nixon wore a pale green custom Carolina Herrera gown and Marinoni a suit with a slightly darker hued green tie.
