16. Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman

There are few Hollywood romances that have the sort of storybook perfect ending that Elizabeth Banks and husband Max Handelman have achieved.

The pair met back in 1992 during their first day of school at the University of Pennsylvania.

Despite dating throughout college and after graduation, Banks and Handelman did not get married until 2003.

Banks once admitted that even after a 10-year relationship, she was surprised when Handelman proposed to her on that day in 2003. In a magazine interview in 2011, Banks said that Handelman felt like he owed her a surprise after being together for more than a decade.

On the day of their wedding, the couple used the letters they wrote each other during their first year together to craft their vows.

Banks has appeared in a number of big-budget films during her career. She has appeared in the films “Invincible,” “Definitely, Maybe,” “W,” “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” and more recently in the first two installments in the “Hunger Games” series.

She has had a recurring role on the ABC comedy series “Modern Family” as well. Banks and Handelman have two children, both of whom were born via surrogacy. She has completed portions of the conversion process to Judaism, her husband’s faith. Handelman works as a sportswriter and producer.
