The famous late night host admitted that he cheated on his wife, Lasko, back in 2009, when he was forced to make a very public apology to his wife, as his former co-worker Robert Halderman tried to blackmail him.

Robert had been a staff member on set of Letterman’s show and was one of the few who knew about the affair.

He tried to extort David in return for silence. David did not give in to his demands, and instead made an on-air apology.

In January 2013, Letterman admitted that he was still trying to fix his marriage and that the consequences of his fling are still standing between him and his wife.

“I have no one to blame but myself. I think if you’re going to have a flow chart of the responsibility for this circumstance, this sex scandal, my name is at the top. I’m not sure what it means, but I’m taking responsibility for it, trying to atone for it.”
