16. Tracy Pollan and Michael J. Fox

Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan met in 1985 on the set of the popular TV sitcom “Family Ties,” in which Pollan played Fox’s on-screen love interest.

In real life, the two were in relationships with other people. When they reconnected on the set of “Bright Lights, Big City” two years later, they found they were both single, and they started dating.

Fox and Pollan married on July 16, 1988. In stark contrast to other celebrity weddings, they invited just 70 people, mostly close friends and family, to the ceremony, which was held in Vermont.

Pollan gave birth to their first child, a son, in 1989, and just two years later, Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

Fox, the founder of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, told “Parade Magazine” that humor helped get his family through inevitable dark times and kept their relationship fresh. “We still love each other,” he told “Parade.” “We make each other laugh, which is probably the most important thing.”

Pollan acknowledged that being married isn’t always easy, especially when it comes to living with chronic illness. “Any marriage has its ups and downs. It’s hard work to be married for this many years, [but] Michael’s a very easy person to be with under the circumstances.”
