19. Ray and Anna Romano

Ray Romano of “Everybody Loves Raymond” met his wife before he became famous.

She was working at a bank in Queens, Roman’s hometown, when her met her. They married in 1987 and had four children: Ally, Joe, Greg and Matt.

Ray told “Redbook” that his wife keeps him grounded in reality. “She likes to remind me that, as big as my head can get with fame and fortune, I’m still the dick she married. Anna would be just as happy with me if I were a plumber.”

In 2010, Anna, an actress and cinematographer, was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. It was the roughest time in their marriage, but Ray credits humor and their strong relationship for getting them through the months of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.

Anna beat the cancer and life mostly returned to normal. Still, the couple want to help ensure that women without health insurance have access to breast exams and mammograms.

They donated considerable sums to the American Italian Cancer Foundation, which sends out mobile mammogram vehicles in New York City, and the Saben Free Clinic in Los Angeles, which offers mammography and exam services to uninsured, low-income women.

According to Ray, the key to a happy marriage is to “watch my show and do the opposite.” And, he adds, make each other laugh every day.
