12 Crazy Celebrity Prenups
4) Prenups, the second time around
It is not unheard of for couples to divorce and then to decide to remarry each other all over again. But for former model, Elin Nordegren and the shamed golf legend, Tiger Woods, whose divorce was the top story of scandal rags in 2010, the second time around would have been different.
In an attempt to win back his ex, Woods offered Nordegren a $200 million cheating clause in a new prenup, if the couple remarried. Nordegren countered with a demand that Woods fork over $350 million if he ever cheated on her again. A friend told the Enquirer that Woods was so eager to put the past behind him that he didn’t even blink at this counter-offer, even though the $350 million would have been about half of his net worth, which she believed may have been enough to prevent further cheating if the couple did end up remarrying. But the blonde former Swedish model’s theory was never put to the test. The couple ultimately decided one marriage was enough, and broke off the engagement by 2013.
Though the golfing community and many sponsors seemed to have forgiven Tiger for his straying ways, it may be that Nordegren may never do so, no matter how rock-solid Prenup 2.0 would be drafted. After all, he literally was at the top of his game and reportedly had multiple mistresses, some going back years. It’s no wonder she felt betrayed to the point of going after him and his car with his own golf clubs. What did she get for her troubles the first time around? A decent settlement of $110 million, which could be why she wasn’t in a hurry for a second possible paycheck.
