No Joke! Haylie Duff’s April Fool’s Proposal is the Real Deal
Thankfully, it was no joke when Haylie Duff’s boyfriend, Matt Rosenberg, proposed to her on April Fool’s Day. In a blog titled, “We’re Engaged” that Duff posted on her website, “The Real Girl’s Kitchen,” she described Rosenberg’s proposal as “genuine and sweet (like him!) and I couldn’t wait to say yes!”
Rosenberg — the owner of apparel company, Subway Tile Shirts — and Duff have been together for about a year and a half. In the picture of the happy, smiling couple that accompanied Duff’s announcement on her blog, it’s hard to miss the actress’s new, stunning engagement ring.
Not long after Haylie broke the news of her engagement, her younger sister, actress Hilary Duff congratulated her on Twitter, “So happy to not have to keep this news in!! My beautiful sister @HaylieDuff and her amazing boyfriend @Matt_STS are engaged.”
It was an especially good week for Haylie Duff. On the same day that she shared news of her engagement, she also announced that a television show based on her blog — which would also be called “Real Girl’s Kitchen” — would be airing on the Cooking Channel in June. “Real Girl’s Kitchen” will also appear on the digital, on-demand television network Ora.tv, starting on April 9th.
Before she became a food blogger, Duff was better known for being an actress. She guest starred on a number of television shows, including her sister’s Disney show, “Lizzie McGuire,” and was a regular on “7th Heaven.” One of Duff’s best known roles, however, was as Summer in the 2004 cult movie hit, “Napoleon Dynamite.”
So far, there is no word yet on what role, if any, Hilary will serve in Haylie’s wedding. In August 2010 when Hilary married former NHL player Mike Comrie, Haylie had been her sister’s maid of honor. So it is likely she will return the favor. Hilary and Comrie, who have a son, Luca, are currently separated.
