Jason Segel And Katie Holmes Spark Romance Rumors
In the real life soap opera of Hollywood relationships that sometimes has more tangled twists and turns than the best fictional TV dramas, two storylines may be coming together: Katie Holmes and Jason Segel.
Depending on who is doing the speculating, the two have either been dating seriously in recent months after being friends for years, or they met briefly in 2011 and haven’t spoken since.
The current narrative started when Holmes had a guest shot on “How I Met Your Mother” in 2011, the series starring Segel.
This spring, “HIMYM” wrapped up, and viewers said goodbye to the fine writing, fun characters and perspective that jumped between the present and the past with ease.
Now that Segel, a respected comic TV and movie actor, has time on his hands again, some say he’s planning to relocate to New York, perhaps to be closer to the former Mrs. Tom Cruise.
The Star has been reporting that the couple has been spending a lot of time together, that Segel someday wants to have kids, and gets along great with Suri, Katie and Tom’s 8-year-old daughter.
Other people say both of these mid-30s stars are too busy to develop any serious relationship possibilities.
Holmes will appear in “The Giver” this August, with Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep and Taylor Swift. She’s also working on an untitled “high society drama” for TV.
Segel appears again with Cameron Diaz in “Sex Tape” later this year – they shared screen time in “Bad Teacher.”
But possible emotional connections from past relationships may go even deeper.
Diaz, for instance, is a favorite co-star of Suri’s ex, Tom. (Remember “Vanilla Sky” and “Knight and Day”?)
A closer connection is that Segel used to be a strong item with Michelle Williams, who starred with Holmes way back in “Dawson’s Creek” days. And Williams may have dated co-star Joshua Jackson while Holmes was dating him.
People attached to Holmes say any speculation or alleged revenge for past relationships may be for naught. Her rep told media outlets that reported the Star piece that it was completely untrue.
