Stephen Fry and Elliott Spencer Tied The Knot

Legendary TV star and comedian Stephen Fry has married his partner Elliott Spencer! The joyous news was shared by Mr. Fry himself on January 17th via his Twitter account: “Gosh. Elliott G. Spencer and I go into a room as two people, sign a book and leave as one. Amazing.”

Although he claimed that no date was set for his wedding after confirming the news earlier this month, it appears that they just took a stroll and the plunge, casually, without any fuss.

Fry shared a photo of the intimate event, which shows the couple sitting at the table, both with matching green carnations as they sign the registry.

The flower was a nod to Oscar Wilde, as Victorian men would often wear a green carnation on their lapels made popular by the author. Stephen wore a grey suit and a colorful striped tie, while Elliott wore a black suit and shirt with a Chelsea blue tie.

Earlier this month, the comedian spoke of his wonderful relationship with 30 years younger writer, when their engagement was announced on January 6th: “It’s been wonderful. We’ve not fixed a date and if I had I wouldn’t tell you! But I can say it will be sometime within the next year or so. As is the way with these things it became public when we filled in the paperwork. It was probably a bit much to expect a quiet ceremony.”

It was a quiet ceremony alright, but it’s was much earlier than we expected. Congratulations to the happy couple!
