Benedict Cumberbatch has become a father for the first time as Sophie Hunter gives birth to a “beautiful son”.

The happy couple first announced they were expecting in early 2015, and this announcement was followed by a private wedding ceremony in February.

A spokesman for the couple announced, “Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son.

We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during these next few precious weeks.”

The couple met on the set of a 2009 film Burlesque Fairytales and got engaged in the fall of 2014 after several years of dating.

Cumberbatch has plenty of reasons for celebration these days as he has been named a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honors List for his contribution to the performing arts industry and charity work.

Benedict Cumberbatch is best known for his role in a TV series Sherlock Holmes and a motion picture The Imitation Game.
