Drew Barrymore – ‘I Will Act Less And Less, And Focus On My Children’
The famous Hollywood A-lister and a mother of two, Drew Barrymore, has recently spoken about her plans regarding her acting career. The actress revealed she plans to take a break from acting so she would be able to spend more time with her beloved children.
It’s Hard To Be Both, Mother And A Mom
One cannot do both things at the same time and be equally good at them.
“I think I will act less and less. It’s hard to be present when you wake up before them and come home after they’ve gone to bed. That’s just not the way I want to have this journey with my kids at this point in their life,” Drew stated for Today magazine.
Only Temporary?
The star, who has two daughters with her husband, Will Koperman, a 23-month-old Olive and 6-month-old Frankie, also said this decision might be only temporary.
“But maybe when they’re older, I will feel differently. But at this point, I think it has to be few and far between.”
Unconventional Upbringing
When it comes to her own childhood, we all know it was pretty turbulent, and the actress admitted how it influences her parenting skills today.
“I had a very untraditional upbringing, so I looked at it from afar and just thought, ‘Well that’s the exact opposite of how I’d want to raise my kids.’ But it doesn’t make me bummed out that I didn’t have parents. It’s like, thank God that I didn’t because maybe I wouldn’t be this aggressively excited about tradition and values and Christmas cards and Halloween costumes… and being so present,” Drew concluded.
