Hilary Duff Shares Divorce Woes On Her Latest Record
It’s been eight years since Hilary Duff released her last record. A lot has changed since then in the industry and in Duff’s personal life, with her marriage to former NHLer Mike Comrie falling apart, leaving behind their three-year-old son, Luca.
Calling her latest record “Breathe In. Breathe Out.” “very personal”, the 27-year-old singer, actress and mom discussed her first album since 2007.
“The whole point of making a record is to open up and give a little piece of yourself away. Sometimes that’s challenging to decide how much you want to share. But I’d say that most of the songs on the record, even if I didn’t write them myself, they touched me personally.”
Most of Duff’s new songs feature lyrics of shattered relationships that reflect her marriage to Comrie, while others serve to empower those who are brave enough to look into the future alone.
“(It’s about) kind of tying a bow around the memories you made with someone and being grateful, and deciding to move forward.”
Duff’s previous records have at least gone gold, and she shared she would like to go on a tour again.
