Kate Winslet: Divorce Can Be Good For Children
Kate Winslet recently discussed her attitude towards children and divorce in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, stating she believes divorce can actually be good for children.
“I think it’s very important to teach your children to struggle on some level,” said Winslet. “I would honestly say that I wouldn’t change a thing. Even the bad bits.
The Oscar-winning actress is a mother of three children and has been divorced twice.
From her first marriage to Jim Threapleton, Winslet has a 14-year old daughter, Mia, and from her second marriage to Sam Mendes, she has an 11-year old son, Joe. Kate also has a baby boy from her third marriage to Ned RocknRoll.
Winslet went on to add, “it doesn’t matter how crappy times have been, they all matter, because those things shape who you are. And if you don’t like who you are, well, then you’re —— really, aren’t you?”
Open and outspoken as usual, the 39-year-old UK actress touched on the topic of pressure new moms are put under to lose their baby weight in record time.
“When I read things like that, I just think, ‘Oh for —-‘s sake, that’s actually impossible.” And, do you know what? My body will never go back to what it was, and I wouldn’t expect it to after three babies.”
