Kimye To Get Married This Week?!

Are they or aren’t they, and do you actually care? There are few couples as polarizing as Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, so it’s possible you’re in the “Couldn’t care less camp.” But if you happen to be a big fan of Kimye, you’ll be very interested to learn that the couple is rumored to be finally tying the knot this week in a — gasp! — private ceremony.

Yes, we know. Doing anything in private is so unlike Kanye or any Kardashian, but sources have told TMZ that the couple has already gotten what is called a “confidential” marriage license. According to the California Department of Public Health, this type of Los Angeles County marriage license is a confidential record and only the married couple can request copies of it. Not surprisingly, this type of license is popular with celebrities.

If Kanye and Kim did obtain a confidential marriage license, this definitely narrows down the area in which they could get married. In order for the marriage to be valid, the wedding ceremony has to take place in Los Angeles County.

It would be surprising if the normally publicity-hungry couple does wed in private, and it would also be quite a contrast to Kim’s previous wedding to basketball player Kris Humphries in 2011. That extravagant affair was filmed and turned into a two-part reality special for E!. While Kris and Kim’s marriage only lasted 72 days, the couple’s divorce took over 500 days to complete.

If sources are correct, Kim and Kanye — who were engaged in October — are planning to have a private civil ceremony in their home this week and then throw a much more elaborate affair in Paris later this month. According to the Los Angeles Times, the requirements to get married in France are quite strict and so this could be the couple’s way of getting around those restrictions and still have the lavish French celebration of their dreams.
