Pharell Making Kylie Minogue ‘Happy’ After Split With Andres Valencoso
Music collaborations are not always just about great talent coming together to produce something great. Some of these collaborations have some pretty deep emotional connections as we learned from music collaborators Kylie Minogue and Pharrell Williams.
The “Happy” singer was working with Minogue on her new album “Kiss Me Once.” Unfortunately their two days in the studio collided with some pretty big personal issues which Minogue was going through at the time. The Australian singer and host of “The Voice UK” had just split from her long-time boyfriend Andres Valencoso.
Minogue claims that she pushed through to arrive at the studio, but when Williams asked her how she was doing she burst into tears. She picked the right guy to break down in front of. Minogue explained during a live streamed Facebook interview how Williams immediately went into comfort mode, letting her cry and then giving her a heartfelt pep talk. The incident even inspired one of the most positive songs on the album, “I Was Gonna Cancel.” Minogue says the title was inspired by her sharing with Williams that she had seriously considered cancelling their studio session that morning. Minogue admits that Pharrell Williams turned that horrible day into something wonderful by writing her that song.
Apparently Pharrell Williams just wants to spread around the positive energy which his own success has been generating since his “Despicable Me 2” hit “Happy” has got the whole world clapping and shuffling. Williams is no stranger to being the wind beneath someone’s wings, as he has spent the last several decades helping produce some of the biggest names in the music industry. He has worked with Britney Spears, Nelly, and Snoop Dogg, just to name a few. Although he often works in the background of producing or writing great music for big stars, he has gotten his share of credit as well bringing home seven Grammy’s throughout his career. Pharrell Williams is “happy” and he just wants Kylie Minogue to be “happy” too!
