When Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes got together in 2005, it didn’t take Cruise’s jumping on Oprah’s couch for everyone to be surprised by this matchup.

Tom Cruise is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, commanding whopping $$$ per picture, having legions of fans in every corner of the globe, and basically having the world at his feet.

On the other hand, there is the cute, sensible and relatively plain Katie Holmes, best known for her teenage role on Dawson’s Creek from the late 1990s.

The couple’s marriage, which lasted for seven years, was closely followed by the media and dubbed TomKat, with fans eager to know their every move. Cruise and Holmes have a daughter together named Suri, but not even their baby girl managed to keep these two together.

Holmes later said she didn’t want her child raised according to the Church of Scientology, to which she did convert for her husband but later changed her mind.
