Valentine’s Day Nuptials For Benedict Cumberbatch
Benedict Cumberbatch married Sophie Hunter on Valentine’s Day at the Isle of Wight in England.
The vows come only one week before the film industry’s biggest night in Los Angeles, when the first-time Oscar nominee is set to walk the red carpet.
It has certainly been a busy six months for Cumberbatch. In November 2014, the couple announced their engagement in London’s The Times, and two months later Benedict’s rep shared the news of Cumberbatch and Hunter expecting their first child.
The Valentine’s Day wedding ceremony took place at St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church in Mottistone, followed by the reception at Mottistone Manor.
The Imitation Game actor has been relatively secretive about his personal life, but he did reveal his hopes for the future in an interview with Elle magazine in 2014.
“I can imagine I’ll look back at this point in my life and think: ‘Wow that was really extraordinary. But at the same time I hope I’m looking back and going, ‘Oh, that was the moment I got on with life and realized things beyond myself. Without using words like ‘marriage,’ ‘children’ and ‘family’ — although I have just used those words — put it this way, I hope I’ve got other people to look back with me at that point. I hope I’m surrounded by family.”
This is the first marriage for both Benedict and Sophie, who is expected to give birth early in the summer.
