In a Rolling Stone interview, he said he had better luck meeting quality girls before being cast in “Titanic.” Though he was already known for some impressive film roles like “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,” and “Romeo + Juliet,” his “Titanic” adventure bumped him up a few levels on the superstar chart, whether he liked it or not. He said after this point, he couldn’t just go out to a bar and meet someone, and some girls were just interested in talking to him just because of “Titanic.” Plus the tabloids also provided him even less privacy, and he’s at the point where anything he says or does – or any new companion he takes out in public— automatically becomes something newsworthy.
